Heating makes up for almost half of a home’s energy costs. Imagine how much you could save if you could cut down on energy consumed when you warm up your home. Here are some methods you can apply to do just that.
- Love baking? You can take advantage of your oven’s heat after you’re done using it by leaving it open to warm up the kitchen. Never leave an oven turned on to heat a space.
- Challenge yourself to set the temperature one or two degrees lower each year. Keeping it at 55 degrees at night and 60 during the day
- Consider running a small space heater to be more efficient in heating a small room rather than running a central heating system.
- Place rugs on tile, linoleum and wood floors can also help with insulation.
